6 Wednesday, January 2, 2013 The Montmorency County Tribune Hillman Hometown Happenings by Undo end Brendo Happy New Year Hillman. May 2013 be a most happy, healthy, and prosperous new year for everyone. The weather has turned very cold, which is normal for this time of year, but we have been blessed with milder temperatures and are now really feeling the bitter cold. Hopefully everyone had a wonderful Christmas with lots of goodies, family, and friends. The Community Christmas Dinner was a success with 45 people sharing a meal together and another 12 meals being deliv- ered to those who were workingorunable to get out. A big thank you to all of the wonder- ful people who volunteered to help put this dinner on. Thank you to those who donated food for the dinner as well. Thanks to the congregation of Calvary Episcopal for the use of their fellowship hall, it worked out very well. What a blessing to visit with people you haven't seen for a while, we have a wonderful community full of friendly, car- ing people. An eReader class will be held at the HiUman Library Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. Learn to borrow library books on your Kindle, Nook, iPad, or Android tablet. Cost is $10. Call 742-4021 to register. We would like to send our condolences to the families of Raymond Banks, and Bernie Hubert who passed away last week. Our community lost two wonderful men, both icons of our community. Raywas a friend to all, so willing to help out when called upon for donations for benefits.Akinder manyou will never know, heaven gained a good friend. Bernie...who can forget Bernie. There will never be another V/Day parade like the ones in the past with Bernie leading the way. We can only imagine now that he is leading a"band of angels" in a parade for all of heaven! We will miss them both and may they rest in peace. We would like to extend well wishes to Jim Bowerman who is in the hospital this week. We pray for a quick recovery. The Hillman Senior Cizens would liketo extend an invitation to join them in their nightly congregate meals held Monday- Thursday evenings. Those over 60 can pay just $3 for a great meal, and enjoy the fellow- ship of others in our community. Just call ahead for reservations at 742-3013 before noon of the day you plan to attend.
