Spring must re- ally be on its way. Folks are asking about Baccalaureate and graduation and others are talking about signing up for golf leagues. The stores cer- tainly are full of bright colors and !ightweight clothing. Of course, there zs some green grass showing in my backyard, too. But only over my sep- tic tank, however. Well, it is a start! I mentioned golf and all those women who are interested in sign- ing up for the 18-hole league at Gar- land need to come forward. This summ~ they will have 3 flights, based on handicap. Women of all playing abilities are welcome. Playis School PTO for her popcorn span- every Wednesday at 10 a.m. from sorship. The sponsorship fee is $25 May 15 through June, then in July and Aug. it switches to 9 a.m. Each flight plays a different course and all are expected to finish within about a half hour of each other. May 15 is a Fun Day, mixing all flights (9:15 ar- rival please), with regular league play beginning on May 22. If this is for you, early registration is a good idea, because a full roster is anticipated. To join, make your check ($90) out to Garland Ladies Golf League and mail it to Cindy Janssens, 21721 Palmetto Dunes Dr., Unit 102, Estero, FL 33928. If you have questions, you can contact Cindy at 239 947-5946 or cynthia2248@msn.com. The Thunder Bay Transportation Authority provides bussing service not only Montmorency County, but Alpena and Alcona Counties as well. You can make arrangements to get picked up and taken to doctor ap- pointments, physical therapy, etc. If you are over 65 years of age and older, or have any type of disabilityyou can apply to get a reduced fare. Applica- tions can l~e picked up at the 50 Plus Club and mailed or faxed to the Transportation office in Alpena. With prior arrangement, you may even be able to have the bus to take you to another county line to be picked up by a bus from that county for appointments out of the serviced area for Thunder Bay. This is a won- derful service that is terribly under- used, mainly because people aren't aware of it. I hope this helps promote more service for more people. Mrs. Sylvia Schuster is receiving a big thank you from the Lewiston and the group only needs one more sponsor to make it through another year.
