still have time to bulk up for the winter.
Three-hundred and twelve years ago to-

now.

NANCY GARLOCK OF ATLANTA, pictured

almost 9 inches of hair to Locks of Love.

Once a month or six weeks, we cut our
hair and think nothing of it, but there are
those with medical conditions that have
lost their hair. That is where "Locks of
Love" comes in. They work with partici-
pating hair salons to collect 8 to 10 inch
hair sections from willing donors "to pro-
vide hair pieces to financially disadvan-
taged children under age 21 suffering
from long-term medical hair loss from
any diagnosis."
Recently, Tribune employee Nancy
Garlockchose to donate her hairto"Locks
of Love" at Northern Styles, a participat-
ing hair salon in Hillman, owned by Marie
Vlodyka. Nancy had grown her hair long
for the hair styles for her daughters' wed-
dings. She worked with Marie to donate
her nearly nine-inch hair section.
Marie shared other donated hair sec- -ml
tions that she had collected; some were
very thick while others well exceeded the
eight-inch minimum length. Marie was
pleased to participate with "Locks of
Love" and to see the generosity of her
clients, sharing their hair with those who
had lost their hair through cancer or other
medical reason. .,,..
If you are interested in donating your
hair to "Locks of Love," contact Northern
Styles at (989)742-7228 for more details,
or your local salon to find out if they par-
ticipate.
