runs from Rogers City when they came
to town on Sept. 20. The Hurons went home scoreless
after the Tigers tore up the field in a one-sided game.
The teams both had records of 2-1 going into the game,
but Hillman's Michael Klein wasted no time in scoring
for the Tigers when he ran 60 yards to the end zone in the
first few seconds of the game.
Fumbles plagued both teams, but the Tigers made
good on a recovery that put them in Huron territory on
the 29-yard line. A facemask call against the Hurons
moved them closer, and a pass from Ty ]ones to Dylan
Ross was good for the score. A kick from lush Reinbold
earned the extra point.
The Hurons had good position on the return, but a pass
picked offby Mason VanPamel gave possession back to
the Tigers. The Hurons helped out with another penalty,
and a pass from ]ones to VanPamel scored the touch-
down. Another Reinbold kick put the Tigers up 20-0 at
the beginning of second-quarter play.
With about six minutes left in the half, Hillman's Kenny
Kolcan intercepted. A pass from ]ones to Travis Powers
was good for more than 60 yards and a touchdown, and
Reinbold continued success for the extra point, taking
the halffime score to 27-0.
The Hurons received to start the second half, but, at
first and 10, VanPamel nabbed the pass for the remover.
Kolcan carried all the way to the end zone from the 30-
yard line, and Reinbold helped the Tiger s to a 34-point
lead.
The third quarter wrapped up with another VanPamel
interception. Kolcan ran for the score, and Reinbold
added the extra. The Hurons took possession at the top
of the fourth, but Ross was quick to grab a Huron pass
and head for the end zone, taking the game to the final
score of 47-0, Tigers.
Bill Koenig, coach for the Tigers, said his team has been
"shooting ourselves in the foot" on defense by making
silly mistakes, and his players were told to make a state-
ment.
"People are looking beyond our defense, and we
wanted to let them know they can't do that," Koenig said.
"They just came in fired up and ready to roll."
He credited ]ones for being a smart quarterback and
said he has some really good receivers. Reinbold has
been kicking since 7 or 8 grade, he said, and he's going
to give him his due.
"He practiced it, so we're going to see what he can do,"
the coach said.
Koenig said Reinbold won a game against Gaylord St.
Mary with a kick. The Tigers host the Mio Thunderbolts
on Sept. 27.
